1. Is the same degree awarded, regardless of the courses chosen?
Yes, the degree is the same for all students.

2. Can the student who chooses the "Literature and Culture" department courses teach in a tutoring center or in a school?
Yes, because all the Didactics courses as well as the Microteachings and the Internship are compulsory for all students.

3. Who can attend the Specialization cycle?
Students who have successfully passed the three compulsory German language courses ΓΕΡ I-III and are in the 4th semester or above. Especially for the Specialization elective courses on Translation/Translation Theory, it is required that you have also successfully passed the compulsory course MET 405 "Introduction to Translation and Interpreting".

4. To whom are the elective courses addressed?
They are addressed to all students, regardless of semester, upon contact with the academic staff member.

5. Which courses can those students who did not pass the German language course of the 3rd semester attend?
They can attend the core language enhancement courses (Ε ΓΕΡ), the core semester courses, the School’s elective courses, as well as courses from other Schools, as provided by the Program. They can also attend the foreign language courses of the Foreign Language Center of AUTH.

6. Whom can someone address if they have questions or difficulties regarding their studies?
For each academic year, a faculty member is appointed from each Department as a study advisor. Their responsibility is to inform students about the organization and structure of the study system, as well as to solve any problems related to their studies. For information regarding course content and assessment requirements, you can contact the respective academic staff member, while for information regarding course declarations and recognitions, you can contact the secretariat.

7. Can students of the basic study cycle attend the Specialization courses as free electives?
No, because the attendance of these courses presupposes the successful attendance of the courses of the basic study cycle.

8. Can the foreign language courses from the Foreign Language Teaching Center be of any level or must it be of a higher level?
Students admitted from 2004-2005 onwards can attend the compulsory foreign language courses, i.e. 2 semesters out of 3 ECTS, whenever they want. They can choose any language they want from the Foreign Language Teaching Center and attend whatever level they consider useful for them.

9. Can someone study another foreign language from Foreign Language Teaching Center and get additional ECTS? Does this grade count towards the degree average?
It is possible, but the grade does not count towards the degree average.

10. Can students who have started studies earlier and have only taken a few courses join the New Study Program?
From the academic year 2020-21, all students automatically join the New Study Program.

11. Can those students who do not pass the Didactics III course test repeat exams?They have the possibility to take the exam only one more time, in September of the same year. Until then, teachers keep their remaining individual grades, to be counted with the grade of the exam. If students do not pass the September retest either, they must re-attend the course.

12. Will the same Specialization elective courses be repeated every year?
The Specialization Elective Courses (E ΕΙΔ) offer the possibility of specializing on subjects of the two field areas of the School (Linguistics-Didactics and Literature-Culture) and mostly have a seminar format. They cover a wide spectrum, reflect the research interests of the academic staff and are updated according to the research developments in the scientific fields. Therefore, they are constantly renewed in terms of their content and methodology. Also, an effort is made not to repeat the same course in a period of less than two years.

13. Course revisions
The Assembly of the School of German Language and Literature clarifies that, according to Law 4009/2011 article 33 par. 10, only students who have failed three times in the same course by the same teacher have the right to apply for course revision, upon their request.

The application is submitted to the Secretariat (daily 12:00-13:00) at the following intervals of each academic year: from 1.10. until 15.10. and from 15.2. until 28.2.

14. How can I contact the academic staff?
